ubw homecoming: sustaining the legacy campaign - why now?
This is a truly unique moment for UBW, the dance community and our country and it is our responsibility to build on this moment to grow the sustainability of UBW.
UBW's work on stages and in communities has gained the organization significant national awards and recognition. At the same time, we are seeing the beginning of the impact of many efforts, including the UBW Choreographic Center Initiative, on the dance community as it has experienced increased engagement with women of color choreographers in terms of presenting, funding and residencies.
We are also seeing more people and institutions seeking out ways to leverage the arts and social justice for real change during our current political climate. UBW has spent the last 34 years developing the tools in communities and on the stage to meet these needs in the dance community and in our country.
UBW's work to engage individual and foundation donors has laid the groundwork for us to leverage this moment while celebrating our 35th anniversary in 2019. It is UBW’s aim to bring our supporters together during the campaign period (June 2018 - June 2020) around two goals - to recognize the importance of 35 years of UBW and increase the sustainability of the organization for another 35 years and beyond.
